They already met in the opening round of the campaign and on that occasion it was Kiltale that triumphed on a scoreline of 1-19 to 2-10 and in reality, a six-point defeat somewhat flattered Kildalkey that day. Pairc Tailteann is once again the venue for the showpiece of Meath hurling as the top two teams in the county go head to head.

Match report here... Longwood haven't won the title since 1936 and it wasn't to be this year either as Kilmessan won by a score of 2-16 to 0-11. Kildalkey's only representative on the field of the 2013 Meath SHC final on Sunday 6th October was clubman Nick Fitzgerald who was honoured with being selected to referee the game that was contested between Kilmessan and Longwood.

There are twenty-one townlands, all of which are listed with their residents in Griffith's Valuation of 1854. A castle (or tower-house) dating from c.1430, which was built by the Nugent family, is at Moyrath. These are: Balaghtalion, Ballynadrimna, Baskinagh Lower, Baskinagh Upper, Cloncarneel, Clonmore, Clonylogan, Corballis, Kildalkey Town, Lady Island, Moat Town, Moyrath, Neillstown, Portanab, Pubblestown, Rathcormick, Rathkeena, Shanco, Woodtown Abbot and Woodtown West.[2] The following families are historically associated with the parish: Barnewall, Nangle, Nugent, and Potterton. The principal landlords in the parish were the Earls of Darnley although Speaker William Conolly and later Henry Grattan held Moyrath.

Many would say that is a fair reflection of the gap between the sides and it is hard to argue against it going on current form. While, neither outfit set the 'Pairc' alight in their respective semi-final, Kiltale never looked like losing against Kilmessan, but Kildalkey were pushed to the pin of their collar against Dunboyne in what can only be described as a drab affair, but semi-finals are for winning and that's all that mattered on the day.
