Our Prediction:

Lille will win

Lille – Strasbourg Match Prediction | 26-09-2019 13:00

They have scored the second highest number of goals with 42 after 25 games and they have also managed to sort out their once leaky defence. Lilles attack has been fantastic, with their last match the first they have failed to score since the end of November. They have kept clean sheets in four of their last six games and now have the third best defensive record in the league.

Lille will be the more eager of the two sides though after their winning streak was stopped last weekend by Montpellier. RC Strasbourg vs LOSC Lille predictions for this Ligue 1 clash between two teams that finished in the bottom six last year but now find themselves on the cusp of European football.

After sharing the spoils with Rennes on Matchday 6, Lille will be aiming to start a new winning run in the Ligue 1 when they take on Strasbourg at their Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Wednesday evening. Les Dogues are a team with two faces and, no doubt, they record much better results on home soil than on the travels. Since Strasbourg are not considered good travelers, we are tempted to put our money on Lille this time out.

Following his loan spells with Paris, Sint-Truiden and Angers, Jonathan Bamba joined Lille in the summer of 2018. The pacey winger born in Alfortville (France) on March 26, 1996, has been playing for les Dogues ever since, but he has yet to earn a cap for the French national team. Nonetheless, Jonathan Bamba has 12 caps with France U21 in which he scored four goals for les Tricolores.

Strasbourgs main rivals are Metz and the two teams face each other in the Derby de lEst (The Eastern derby). Founded back in 1906, Strasbourg is a professional football team that compete in French Ligue 1. Strasbourg won Coupe de France on three occasions (1951, 1966, 2001) and they have three Coupe de la Ligue trophies as well (1964, 1997, 2005). Le Racing did remarkably well to win the 1979 Ligue 1 trophy and that is considered the biggest success in the history of the club.

Strasbourg suffered a poor result and have struggled to bounce back from that but les Dogues are better than that and they should get back on track with a win here as their attack was still on form against Montpellier, despite not scoring. Were backing them to do that again. Were backing both teams to score due to the fantastic attack of both sides but Lille should run out victors here, despite Strasbourgs solid home record. Lille have a great away record of six wins in their last seven matches on the road, they were slightly challenged by a buoyant Guingamp side last time out but Lille still managed to be professional in their 2-0 win.

Le Racing failed to find the net in previous two away games in the French elite division, which is yet another reason why we predict that they are going to return home empty-handed. A man to watch in the home team will be summer signing Victor Osimhen, who has already netted five goals in the 2019/2020 Ligue 1 season. In their last home game in the national championship les Dogues recorded a 2-1 win over Angers.

Montpellier have been serial drawers recently so its no surprise that they managed to hold back Lille but les Dogues need to bounce back here to keep their distance on Lyon four points below them. Lille also drew 0-0 last week, with their five-match winning streak being halted by Montpellier at home. Lille dominated the game with 62% of the possession but just couldnt get the all-important goal, as the match finished a stalemate.
