Our Prediction:

Texas will win

Louisiana Tech – Texas Match Prediction | 24-08-2019 20:00

In a tight back and forth game, Louisiana Tech was able to pull away for the win late after a pair of RaShawn Langston FTs made it a two possession game for the Bulldogs with just :11 seconds left in regulation. The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs won their 2nd straight game and improved to 17-10 (7-7 C-USA) on the season after defeating the UTSA Roadrunners, 72-67, this past Saturday. Louisiana Tech held UTSA to just 42.0% shooting from the field and 17.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was DaQuan Bracey who had 23 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, and a steal.

Ryan Higgins lit up the SCSU secondary by posting four touchdowns and 409 yards in the win. His No. The Bulldogs are coming off of a strong win after being delayed for weather issues against South Carolina State. Early mistakes put the Bulldogs behind, but the second half was a different story. However, the offensive line did give up three sacks and the Red Raiders could boost its defensive morale if they can make stops. 1receiver, Trent Taylor, caught 11 passes and three touchdowns while racking up 178 yards. With a passing attack, look for the Bulldogs to try and match Tech'sAir Raid.

As are running backs Jaqwis Dancy and Israel Tucker (who combined for 1,044 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns on 219 carries). Texas starting QB Sam Ehlinger may be good enough to led the Longhorns to the straight-up win. Techs defense is returning several 2018 standouts. And on offense, quarterback JMar Smith is also returning. Including cornerback Amik Robertson (four interceptions and 12 passes defended), LJarius Sneed (three picks, broke up eight passes), linebacker Collin Scott (87 tackles), and safety James Jackson (74). But, as far as covering the spread goes well, to quote Terry Bradshaw, he aint that good. Unlike Texas, La. And wide receiver Adrian Hardy (75 receptions for 1,145 yards and six TDs). There is, mind you, still a chasm in between, but it may not be, you know, 21-point wide. All things considered, I would say theres a bridging of the gap between the two programs.

Since 2010 there has been a clear pattern in Texas. On the other hand, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 were lean and ugly years. That year and 2011, 2014 and 2017 were fat and sleek. Now the question is, is there any reason to believe history will repeat? As hinted above, 2018 already saw a decline from the previous season. And the worst may be yet to come. And the answer is yes, yes there is.

Quandre Diggs, Cedric Reed, Mykkele Thompson, Steve Edmond, Malcom Brown and Jordan Hicks all exited stage left. Texas defense was nowhere near as good as that of Louisiana Techs. The Longhorns lost eight defensive starters who had previously combined for 233 starts and 366 games. By way of comparison, the 2015 Longhorns defense lost 200 combined starts. And it currently does not appear to be very deep either. What was left was one of the worst Texas defenses in recent memory. Lowlights included 452.6 total yards and 219.2 rushing yards allowed per game, and 30.3 points allowed per game.

That ranks them 45th in college football. The Bulldogs are ranked 32nd in yards per play allowed with 4.8. They have surrendered a total of 1,003 yards on D, which is 13th in the country. Opposing offenses have completed 45 passes on 76 attempts against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs defense this season, placing them 8th and 5th in Division 1. Louisiana Tech has committed 17 penalties for 195 yards on the defensive side of the ball this season. The Louisiana Tech pass defense has also given up a total of 498 yards through the air, which is 6th overall in total pass defense. They are 48th in the nation in points allowed on defense with 81. The Bulldogs rush defense has allowed 131 attempts for 505 yards this year, putting them in 48th place in D-1 against the run.

North Texas hasnt been playing their best basketball as of late, however, I like the depth that Mean Green have and believe that their solid defense will be able to give the Bulldogs some trouble. Good Luck! North Texas defeated Louisiana Tech by a 63-59 margin at home in early January and although the Mean Green might not snap their losing streak, I think the North Texas will keep it close enough to cover with the points.

Cincinnati finished the season ranking 44th in points allowed per game (23.1) and 23rd in sacks (37.0). For example, the Miami Hurricanes were impressed enough to snatch defensive coordinator Blake Baker away. The Fighting Irish finished the year second in points allowed per game (12.8) and went to the 2013 BCS National Championship Game. In turn, La. Kelly took Diaco with him when he moved to Notre Dame. Diaco was the defensive coordinator at Cincinnati in 2009 under head coach Brian Kelly. 27 in total defense, allowing 23.0 points, 191.6 passing yards, and 149.7 rushing yards per game. The programs defensive success did not go unnoticed. Tech hired Bob Diaco to fill the spot. The Bulldogs ranked No. Diaco had since receded into obscurity.

The North Texas Mean Green pass defense has also surrendered a total of 836 yards in the air, which is 70th overall in total pass defense. They have given up a total of 1,241 yards on D, which is 39th in D-1. Opponent offenses have completed 64 throws on 139 attempts against the North Texas defense this season, ranking them 49th and 105th in the nation. The Mean Green are 34th in yards per play allowed with 4.8. The Mean Green have had 27 penalties for 227 yards on defense this year. Their rushing defense has given up 122 attempts for 405 yards this season, putting them in 27th place in the country against the run. North Texas is 26th in the country in points surrendered on defense with 63. That places them 77th in college football.

Austin in the first game of the season, the Red Raiders could collectanother blowout victory. Even if that happens, I still don't see the Bulldogs leaving Lubbock with the win. This one could be close for some time, but Mahomes and the offense is too strong to let this one get away. If Texas Tech does well on defense like itdid against Stephen F. However, I think the Bulldogs will give them a run for their money after seeing how the Red Raiders' defense can be exploited.
