Rennes (@2.62) vs Lille (@3.0)

Our Prediction:

Rennes will win

Rennes – Lille Match Prediction | 23-09-2019 09:00

Roazhon Park will host Fridays football game between Rennes and Lille. Rennes are stuck in the middle of the Ligue 1 table ahead of the last game of the season and a win over Lille will see them secure a top-ten finish. Les Rouges et Noirs did well to beat Strasbourg on the road in their last league match, with the team putting an end to their nine-game winless run in the national championship, but beating Les Dogues is easier said than done.

Rennes drew 0-0 against a lax Brest side in what was a poor result but theyll be hoping to continue their good home record in the league here. Rennes played on the counter for most of the match and never really managed to get a stronghold in the match although they did create more in the second half. Rennes suffered a poor draw on Thursday as Celtic battled to make it 1-1 at Roazhon Park. Ultimately it was the match that Rennes should have been winning but some may have predicted this following their poor display in the league last week.

Form Summary

This season they arguably have the better team have started well and Lille have a recent poor record over Rennes. The problem for Lille of course is that they sold their best two players, and have struggled since, this is an away game and they had to play in midweek. All of this points to a home win. Rennes form has dipped recently but they have a great chance to put that right with a win at the weekend. Rennes had to play also where they drew 1-1 with Celtic in the Europa League but the advantage, they had there was that it was also at home.

Ludovic Baal currently play for Rennes as a left-back and his contract with the Ligue 1 outfit expires on June 30, 2019. He found the net in a 4-1 win over Anguilla, with Gary Pigree scoring a hat-trick for French Guayana. Baal decided to represent French Guayana on international stage and he made three appearances for the team in the group stages of the 2012 Caribbean Cup.

They have won three and lost two of their opening five matches. Lille have conceded five times so far with an xGA of 5.06 which are pretty disappointing numbers for the team that conceded the least goals last season. Both of these defeats however came with Lille suffering a red card.

Goal Timings

Les Dogues continue life without Pepe, who left the club in the summer, but they have been in a fine form at the start of the season. Les Rouges et Noirs aim to stay in top three in the Ligue 1 standings and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at Lille. Lille recorded a win in each of their first three home games in the national championship, but given their poor away record, we predict that they are going to share the spoils with Rennes at Roazhon Park this weekend.

Niang MBaye is the top goal scorer in Rennes squad at the moment. The team from Lille is recognized as the team with the best defense in the league. Hatem Ben Afra and Benjamin Borigeaud are also in great shape. Nicolas Pepe is an absolute star in his team because he scored twenty-two times in the current season. When LOSC plays away matches, there are under 2.5 goals on average. He scored nine times so far and together with his Senegalese teammate Ismaila Sarr they make tremendous offensive duo.

Lille had their chances but didnt take any of the three key opportunities they created. Lille were beaten 3-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday as Christophe Galtiers men got their first taste of European football following their 2nd place finish last year. Lille will be hoping to get back to winning ways here in the league but they havent been as dominant as they were last year. Ajax did and Lille were punished for it.

His men struggled to score on the regular and in-form Victor Osimhen just wasnt enough to keep it going. LOSC have seen three away losses this term already and while theyve had more success in front of the home fans which sees them sitting just three points behind pace-setters PSG this will obviously be very worrying for Christophe Galtier.
