Villarreal (@4.5) vs Real Madrid (@1.61)

Our Prediction:

Real Madrid will win

Villarreal – Real Madrid Match Prediction | 21-08-2019

The game was moved back due to Reals participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, a competition they won with relative ease in December. Real Madrid and Villarreal return early from Spains short winter break to face off this Thursday in the first La Liga match of 2019. This though will be a bigger test as they look to claw their way back into title contention.

Karl Toko Ekambi scored 21 goals in 66 appearances for Paris from 2010 to 2014 and at the end of the 2013/2014 season he joined Sochaux. Ekambi came as a substitute in the 77th minute of the match, replacing fellow attacker Mengolo. The Cameroonian footballer played for Paris FC during his youth career and he made his first-team debut for the capital club on April 26, 2011 in a 2-2 draw with Beauvais.

All eyes will be on Estadio de la Ceramica when Villarreal and Real Madrid face each other in a postponed fixture. A man to watch in the away team will be Gareth Bale and we predict that he is going to lead the capital club to a victory. Real Madrid did well to defend the prestigious trophy, meaning that they are brimming with confidence ahead of the trip to Villarreal. The Yellow Submarine are on a three-game winless run in La Liga, with the team conceding seven goals in total in previous three league fixtures. Los Blancos were not into action in the Spanish top flight at the weekend as they face Al Ain in the Club World Cup final. Villarreal sit in the danger zone in the La Liga standings ahead of the visit of Real Madrid, so it is no surprise they are considered big underdogs in Thursdays football match.

Match Preview

Real will have to make sure they bring their best after rest to make sure they make this pickup match indeed counts towards their favor. This match can also help them figure out where they are going into this new year since they play again over the weekend. As mentioned before, a trip against Villarreal, especially after a long break, is never an easy task.

Real start back from a fairly long break right out on the road, while Villarreal are trying to do the same while also trying to avoid relegation the rest of this season. A trip to Villarreal is never easy, but this is an opportunity for Real to continue their title hopes and get a win before they play again on Sunday. This is a big match for both clubs.

Real Madrid and Villarreal face each other at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in what is expected to be one of the most entertaining games of Sundays program. Los Blancos are eager to bounce back from a shocking 1-0 loss to Rayo Vallecano and they are likely to go all guns blazing at Villarreal. Real Madrid are having a season to forget and, as things stand now, they are going to finish the 2018/2019 La Liga campaign in third position in the standings.

They sacked Javier Calleja and appointed Luis Garca as their new boss last month. For the third match in a row, they face a team in the relegation zone here with Villarreal enduring a torrid season so far. The new man has at least had an extended period of nearly three weeks without a game to work with his side but his first game at the helm was a relatively unconvincing 2-2 draw with bottom club Huesca.

Los Blancos start the new year with an 8 point gap to make up on leaders Barcelona and this is their single game in hand. Their most recent league games both produced 1-0 wins but they were against the bottom two teams in the Primera Division as Real made hard work of seeing off both Huesca and Rayo Vallecano. The jury remains out on Santiago Solari, with his reign so far largely defined by Real Madrid winning matches without particularly playing well.

Their trip to the Middle East for the Club World Cup saw Gareth Bale return to form with a hat-trick and Marcos Llorente further strengthen his claim for a regular starting berth with some more assured displays in midfield. Overall though, Real look capable of edging it. This is a tricky one to call in many ways as both sides have more to offer than theyve shown so far this season.
